Perry: Howdy & Thanks!

[Moved from comment to post by the editor ;) ]

Happy to be one of the basterds.. => 42 yrs old and presently weighing in at 236lbs and about 25% body fat (5ft 10"). I've been doing the P90X workout for roughly 3 weeks:

It's tough but effective. My goal is to get under 200lbs & 15% body fat by the end of the year.

Cheers

Scott: Weigh-in and Begining of Calorie Tracking

I weighed in today: 278.4. Not bad concidering I have been a slacker about going to the gym. I also began tracking my daily intake on Livestrong.com. Soon I am going to begin a picture feed of my meals to help me visualize the portions and help control my overeating habit.

Dale: More Swimming...

Swam Friday and Today. 1/2 mile each day. Slowly getting my speed back up. I had to swim around a bunch of kids today, the lifeguards forgot to keep a lane open for lap swim. They eventually noticed I was having to slalom around kids to get from one end to the other and they moved the kids into another lane. All in all I like swimming and it's a good workout so I'll keep it up. Eating has been going pretty well, except for the fact that there was a pig pickin' this weekend so that wasn't the most healthy fare. Well the pig was pretty healthy but all the other stuff that was there wasn't. :) It was all tasty though.

Now I'm off to make a sandwich and head into the office for some fun and exciting work!

Sound exciting I know...

Article: Why Excersize Won't Make You Thin.

Interesting article in Time.

Why Exersize Won't Make You Thin...

If you read the article, please chime in with your thoughts...

Scott: Good news....

So far. They are treating my shoulder with high dose Naproxin Sodium and PT for two weeks then back in to evaluate. So I can still run and work lower body. Hopefully I can return to strength training soon as I have a Highland Games coming up in a month and a half.

Bad news, BP was elevated once more. Need to be better at monitoring that.

Dale: Glug, Glug, Glug...

So Monday I started swimming. I swam 800 yds in about 30 min. A nice pace just to get used to being back in the pool. Today, I went again and did 850 yds in 30 min. Friday I'll go again and see if I can make this part of my regular routine.

Good workout.

Scott: Much the same.

I have been a slacker at my working out. I was on the Couch25K plan but was derailed by vacation and my own laziness. Time to get back on the bandwagon. Before vacation my weight had plateaued but I think that can be attributed to lack of change in eating habits. Exercise is great but if I still eat enough to feed my family the weight will not come off.
"Stop eating you fat bastard!" So fitting.

Welcome Scott!

I'd like to take a minute and welcome a fellow Fat Bastard to the site. Scott will be blogging along with me while we work on become smaller Fat Bastards. :)

Welcome Scott, feel free to kick the tires so to speak. Write some lines. If you are blogging away on here I might even update my stuff more. :)
